Financial Aid ProgramsThe University of Southern Nevada Financial Aid Services has many federal, private and institutional programs. Financial aid is considered any resource that can help pay for college. Students must apply for financial aid using the FREE Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Aid is awarded on first come first served basis while funds remain. ScholarshipsSeveral scholarships are available to students attending The University of Southern Nevada. You must complete the FAFSA application and check with the program you are interested in for deadlines. GrantsGrants are free money and do not have to be repaid. Normally grants are awarded to students with high financial need. Federal formulas determine who can be awarded these grants. The most common grant is called the Pell Grant. You must complete the FAFSA application to determine eligibility. LoansLoans are funds that are borrowed and must be repaid. There are several different types of loans for students, including federal and private.
Plan carefully if you choose to borrow a student loan. If you are offered a student loan as part of your financial aid package, you have the option to accept, reduce or decline the loan. While loans may be necessary in order for you to attend college, students should borrow conservatively. Financial Aid ProcessCheck out the financial aid deadlines before beginning.
In order to avoid delays, the student must apply complete the application in full and accurately and notify Financial Aid Services of address and/or email changes. Financial Aid Services Staff

DeadlinesUSN Financial Aid Services imposes specific recommended deadlines in order to process financial aid applications in a timely manner. All students are strongly encouraged to abide by the recommended deadlines. Late applications take longer to process and will result in fewer awards available as aid is awarded on a first come, first serve basis for completed files.
