Step 1 Complete this LRS and submit it to the Financial Aid Office. We will update your university records, including your address, with the information you provide.
Step 2 If necessary, your lender will contact you about completing a Master Promissory Note (MPN). Carefully read and follow directions when completing the MPN. The MPN will cover all Federal Stafford Loans you borrow with this lender for up to ten years. Forward your completed MPN to your lender promptly.
Step 3 Your lender will disburse your loan to the Cashier's Office in installments, one at the start of the loan period and one in the middle of the loan period (loan periods generally correspond to the academic year).
Step 4 To receive your loan you must:
  • be enrolled at least half time;
  • have submitted all required documents;
  • maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP);
  • maintain eligibility for the loan in your financial aid package; and
  • attend a loan entrance counseling session if this is your first Federal Stafford Loan at USN. Session schedules can be found online at www.usn.edu/finaid
